Mycobacterium L-alanine dehydrogenase (ald) belongs to the AlaDH/PNT family and is a 40 kDa secreted protein from short term culture of Mycobacterium tuberculosis; which may play a role in cell wall synthesis as L-alanine is an important constituent of the peptidoglycan layer.
