Description
Olfr749 (olfactory receptor 749), also known as Odorant receptor S1, like other olfactory receptors interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, to initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell. Olfactory receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and are responsible for the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals. Known ligands; n-HEPTANOIC ACID; 8-BROMOOCTANOIC ACID; n-NONANOIC ACID; OCTANOIC ACID; SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein; SIMILARITY: Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family
