Description
The GNG8 gene codes for a 70 amino acid long, 7 kDA guanine nucleotide-binding G(I)/G(S)/G(O) protein (G protein) subunit 8 that is essential as a modulator (transducer) in various transmembrane signaling systems. The GNG8 protein has been investigated in diseases such as breast cancer, tuberculosis, huntington's disease, colorectal cancer, and burkitt's lymphoma. GNG8 interacts with other genes ADCY2, ADCY8, GNG7, GNG11, and GNGT2 to participate in pathways such as signal transduction cAMP signaling, G protein signaling, platelet homeostasis, and chemokine signaling.
