A segmental duplication of the p arm of chromosome 16 created two identical copies of the GIY-YIG domain containing gene, this record represents the more telomeric copy. Exons of this gene overlap with exons of the phenol-preferring sulfotransferase (SULT1A4) gene. Two transcript variants that encode different protein isoforms have been identified through sequence analysis. Transcript Variant: This variant (2) lacks an alternate in-frame segment in the coding region when compared to variant 1. The predicted protein (isoform 2) is shorter than isoform 1. The predicted ORF of this transcript has not been experimentally confirmed.
