The FBXO33 gene encodes a 555 amino acid long, 62 kDA F-box only protein 33 that monitors the ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of target proteins. It is thought to recognize as well as bind phosphorylated target proteins. FBXO33 is linked to osteoporosis and interacts with genes CUL1, IPO5, RBX1, HSPA9, and C1QBP.
