Description
The cyclic-nucleotide gated (CNG) ion channel is a cytoplasmic multi-subunit protein complex, consisting of 4 alpha and 2 beta subunits. Binding of cGMP or cAMP induces a confomational change which opens the channel, and allows it to function as a link between Ca2+ signaling systems G-protein coupled reactions. The CNG channel is an element of olfactory and and visual signal transduction.
