Background

To measure DNA synthesis or cell proliferation, 5-bromo2-deoxy-uridine (BrdU) can be incorporated into DNA in place of thymindine. Cells, which have incorporated BrdU into DNA, can be quickly detected using a monoclonal antibody against BrdU. The binding of the antibody is achieved by denaturation of the DNA. This is usually obtained by exposing the cells to acid, or heat.

Limitations

This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Primary Antibodies are guaranteed for 1 year from date of receipt.

FAQs for Bromodeoxyuridine/BrdU Antibody (NB500-235B). (Showing 1 - 3 of 3 FAQ).

  1. I have been using your BrdU antibody for some time now and saw that you have discontinued it. I was wondering if you had any alternative antibodies that would also work? it is antibody NB500-169 lot# 1706-5
    • We recommend this product: NB500-235
  2. One of our customer has bought one vial of NB500-235B, and now the customer want to know how to choose secondary antibody for NB500-235B which is conjugated with Biotin. Could you give us some help?
    • This product is already conjugated to biotin directly and does not need to use a secondary for detection. The unconjugated catalog number is NB500-235. This one has biotin already attached.
  3. How can this antibody be used in IF detection?
    • You could perform IF with a biotin-streptavidin system and the streptavidin could be conjugated to a fluorescent marker of interest.
