Open Position(s):

Product Manager - Immunology & Screening Services (San Diego, CA or Littleton, CO)

Position Summary:

This critical management position will hold responsibility for developing and executing strategic plans for those Novus’ products, services and application areas most commonly associated with Immunology Research. Through the analysis of market trends and competitors, new product development plans, development and execution of marketing plans, training & support, management of pricing and other related support activities, the candidate will lead and manage key aspects of the company’s strategic growth and profitability plans while increasing market share, brand equity and customer loyalty.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Market and competitor analysis
    Obtain market information from all relevant sources: market research reports, primary market research, sales feedback, R&D, Technical Support, external publications, scientific interactions, conferences, outside vendors, analysis of competitive strategic and tactical activities, etc. Consolidate information and draw appropriate conclusions about market trends. Communicate and use information to drive strategic product line and research area decisions. 
  • Product line analysis
    Routinely monitor sales reports, sales trends, pricing trends, margins/margin trends, price volume analysis, etc., for the products included in his/her research area.  Develop appropriate conclusions and actions plans to address negative trends and build on positive trends.  Based on these trends, contribute to revenue and volume forecasting and analysis.
  • Product Line Maintenance
    Perform or provide necessary support to other functional areas where product line maintenance is required. Product line maintenance may include but is not limited to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), product line rationalization, product sourcing, product changes, participation in product corrective actions, product specification changes, hierarchy adjustment, etc.
  • Training and sales support
    Provide training and support requirements for new and existing products to Technical Services, Customer Service, Marcom staff , SEO staff and others as required.
  • Pricing
    Based on Market and product line analysis, actively look for price optimization opportunities. Participate on Novus’ pricing committee providing information on overall pricing trends and strategies to permit market-based pricing and continual revenue and margin expansion. Collect and consolidate competitor price lists and market pricing information. Review, recommend and implement product pricing updates as necessary to the pricing committee. 
  • Marketing plan
    Develop and implement (with MarCom and other internal staff) appropriate marketing and promotional plans for all products included in your research area. Adjust marketing mix based on product type and strategic importance. Make recommendations re the Marketing mix including  suggestions regarding advertising, brochures, flyers, direct mail, email promotions, trade show promotion, product inserts, web content etc.
  • Product Line Development
    Based on market analysis and collaboration with internal NPD counterparts and senior managers, direct new product development process and prioritization.  Consult with internal and external technical experts to develop  new product ideas. Recommend product or product line additions, deletions, and modifications based upon research trends as well as market and sales data.  Work with Operations and other internal staff to define and address operational requirements such as product number/class assignment, product pkg and format decisions, inventory quantities, required lead times etc. Where new product development involves collaboration with external parties, work with SRM and product licensing counterparts to develop and negotiate contractual agreements, and coordinate activities between parties for successful interaction and execution.  
  • New Product Launch
    With Technical staff, Marcom, SEO Team, and operations, develop product launch support plans and materials including technical support training and distributor support materials. Working with Marketing Communication team, communicate new product launch schedules to internal staff, distributor managers, and remote offices and ensure support materials are delivered per schedule.
  • Field Travel/Customer Interaction
    As necessary, travel with technical and marketing staff to trade shows and conferences to assist with selling activities, gather customer feedback, test selling approaches, gather potential product development ideas and promotional approaches.  Attend scientific meetings as necessary, to build relationships in your research area, introduce and promote products and assess market trends, scientific trends, and competitive activity.
  • Business Development Support
    As the need arises, work with senior management to identify and value potential acquisition targets. Assist in target due diligence activities and (once acquired) assimilation activities.
  • Other duties as assigned over time.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Education/experience: B.S./B.A. in Biology or closely related field, M.S., Ph.D. or M.B.A. a plus. University coursework and laboratory experience substantially equivalent to a four year university degree may be considered in lieu of a completed degree. 
  • Professional experience: 5 or more years product management, marketing and/or sales management in the Life Science field with particular experience in Immunology Research
  • Requires ability to travel to attend trade shows, seminars, customer locations etc
  • Requires ability to operate a personal computer and typical telecommunications devices.
  • Position requires up to 10% overnight travel with periods which may be significantly higher at certain times of the year and may span weekend days and/or holidays. Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid passport which allows occasional travel internationally.
  • Customer or internal interactions may require brief exposure to research laboratory, biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical laboratory environment.

Shipping and Receiving Clerk (Littleton, CO)

Reports To: Operations Manager

Position Summary:

This position will be a critical member of the shipping and receiving team. This position will require periodic work in -20 degree temperatures and occasional Saturday work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Hours: 10am – 6pm MST
  • Receiving products

  • Packing of customer shipments
  • Shipping domestic and international packages

Strategic Relationship Management Associate

This position is designed for individuals with basic lab experience, looking to move in to the business side of industry. The job does not involve any lab work, but experience with proteomics and immunology based tools will help the individual understand and work with the Novus product line in an efficient manner. Individuals with no lab experience but degrees in molecular biology or biochemistry will be considered. Come work for one of the fastest growing biotech companies in the Denver metro area!

Role Summary: Performs data analysis and works intensively with product data to add, update and remove products from the general product catalog.  Identifies and helps to develop strategic relationships with content and technological partners. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the proteomics field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Principal Accountabilities: (essential job functions)

  1. Adds and manages new product and product-line additions to the website catalog and to accounting.
  2. Adds and manages existing product updates, including product references, to the website catalog.
  3. Assists with general business activities including providing customer technical support.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Scientific Technical Support Specialist (Littleton, CO)

Reports To:  Scientific Technical Support Manager

Hours: 10 am - 6 pm

Start Date: April 2014

Role Summary:  Looking for an experienced scientist who will perform daily technical support activities for all saleable product types which include email, online, and phone correspondence. This position will report monthly to the appropriate departments for tracked problem products and common issues and track monthly product citations. Also requires an understanding of common immunological assays, and hands-on experience. The position will be best suited for someone who enjoys customer service and providing solutions to customers that help improve their experience with Novus products.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Answers pre and post-sale technical inquiries by phone, email and online chat. Requires working with our online ticketing system and ensuring that all inquiries are answered in a timely fashion.
  2. Liaises with other technical support members in US and satellite offices
  3. Keeps a monthly log of issues with individual products and suppliers to report at monthly meeting. Must self-advocate for issues that need immediate solutions.
  4. Works with marketing to contact all customers that publish with our products each month.
  5. Assists customer service and supplier relationship team with any inquires to insure that products meet our standards of excellence.
  6. Will help update scientific blog content and may be required to assist with product development tasks

Essential Skills and Experience

  1. Minimum of bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field
  2. Relevant lab experience other than educational experience with any of the following lab techniques – 2+ years is preferable: western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, ChIP/IP, and FACS. This job will require understanding the assays well enough to offer common troubleshooting solutions.
  3. Excellent communication skills – oral and written.
  4. Ability to manage time accurately
  5. Customer service experience required.
