Interleukin 5 (IL-5) is a soluble T cell-derived factor, also known as T cellreplacing factor (TRF), that induces B cell and eosinophil growth and differentiation. IL-5 exerts its biological activity through the IL-5 receptor (IL-5R), which is composed of two chains: an alpha chain that binds IL-5 with low affinity and a beta chain that does not bind IL-5, but together with the IL-5 alpha chain, constitutes the high affinity IL-5 receptor. The cytoplasmic domain of both the alpha and beta chains is essential for signal transduction. Specifically, the membrane-proximal proline-rich sequence of the cytoplasmic domain of the IL-5R receptor alpha subunit, IL-5Ralpha, is critical for the IL-5 induced proliferative response, expression of nuclear proto-oncogenes and tyrosine phosphorylation of cellular proteins, such as JAK1 and JAK2. Alternative splicing of the IL-5Ralpha gene produces several isoforms, including a membrane-anchored isoform and a soluble isoform. The soluble isoform competes with IL-5 for binding to IL-5R and inhibits IL-5-mediated receptor activation and inflammatory mediator production, and, therefore, may be useful in treating asthma.

FAQs for IL-5 Antibody (NBP1-19749). (Showing 1 - 1 of 1 FAQ).
Can we use your IL5 Antibody (NBP1-19749) for IHC on our human lung Biopsies embedded in GMA resin? We used JB-4 Embedding Kit #00226 from Polysciences Inc. and they said "You can use the kit for staining routine stains, special stains and for IHC, with antibodies that are less than 65,000 kDa in order to get the best results" I would appreciate it if you could advice me whether we can use your IL-5 Antibody for our samples? And how much is the molecular weight of your IL-5 antibody?
Our IL5 antibody NBP1-19749 has been validated for use in IHC in paraffin-embedded tissues. We have not tested its function in other tissue fixatives or preservation methods. The molecular weight of this target is reported to be approximately 45kDa. In theory, this product should work for your experiment, but I will not be able to guarantee its function.
The concentration calculator allows you to quickly calculate the volume, mass or concentration of your vial. Simply enter your mass, volume, or concentration values for your reagent and the calculator will determine the rest.
