Details of Functionality
Measured by its ability to inhibit FGF acidic dependent proliferation of NR6R-3T3 mouse fibroblast cells. The ED50 for this effect is typically 0.5-2 ng/mL.

Reconstitute with 0.1 mg/ml in sterilized PBS to desired concentration.

Notes

This product is provided in a Carrier Free format and does NOT contain BSA. This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Background

Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) are members of a large family of structurally related polypeptides that are potent physiological regulators of growth and differentiation for a wide variety of cells of mesodermal, ectodermal and endodermal origin. Four genes encoding for high affinity cell surface FGF receptors (FGFRs) have been identified: FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4. FGFRs are members of the tyrosine kinase family of growth factor receptors. FGFR2 is highly expressed in developing human tissues including the brain, choroids plexus, lung etc.
