Vasculitides, Hiv-1-associated Cns: Disease Bioinformatics

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is similar to other viruses, but there is a key difference. The human body’s immune system can rid itself of most viruses. However HIV is an exception to the rule the human immune system can’t get rid of it. HIV can hide in our cells for long periods of time and it attacks T-cells or CD4 witch are a key part of our immune system used to fight infections and disease. HIV invades them, uses them to make copies of itself, and then destroys them. HIV can destroy so many of the body’s T-cells and CD4 cells that it leaves our body defenseless against infections and diseases. Symptoms of HIV can include fever, chills, night sweats, sore through, and swollen lymph nodes. These can start showing up as early as two to four weeks after a person gets HIV. During this time period the HIV is also easier for the body to transfer to other people. When your T-cell count drops below 200 you will begin to develop infections witch normally wouldn't occur in a person with a healthy immune system. As a result of the cells trying to fight off virus in our body Vacuities may occur. Vacuities refer to a group of disorders which all share a common underlying problem of inflammation of blood vessels. The inflammation can affect any size blood vessel, anywhere in the body. It may affect either arteries and/or veins. The inflammation may be focal, meaning that it affects a single location within a vessel; or it may be widespread, with areas of inflammation spread throughout a particular organ or tissue. When this happens the blood flow is reduced to the inflamed area which can cause damage to the tissue or organ.
