Tuberculosis Of Brain: Disease Bioinformatics

Tuberculosis of the brain, which is commonly known as meningitis tuberculosis, is an air-borne bacterial infection that infects the meninges of the central nervous system. Symptoms of tuberculosis of the brain include fever, headache, nausea, and seizures. In serious cases, a coma can occur, which results in a poor prognosis. These initial symptoms can last up to eight weeks, and the treatment process can last up to a year. Treatment of meningitis tuberculosis is with the use of anti-tuberculosis medicine, such as isoniazid and rifampin. Approximately 3/4 of people diagnosed with tuberculosis of the brain survive the disease, with 1/4 of the survivors obtaining permanent brain damage.
