Trichophytosis is a fungal infection caused by the Trichophyton fungi, which mainly affects the hair, skin, and nails. Humans and animals can become infected with Trichophytosis by coming into direct contact with a person, animal, or object that has been infected. Young children and animals are most susceptible to contracting Trichophytosis. Infected individuals can be treated with antibiotics and ointments to eliminate the fungus. Objects and people who have come in contact with the infected individual should be disinfected and examined to ensure the elimination of the fungus.
