Subclavian Vein Thrombosis: Disease Bioinformatics

Thrombosis is the interruption of blood flow by a clot in the blood vessels. Subclavian Vein Thrombosis occurs when the subclavain vein behind the collar bone becomes blocked by a blood clot. Subclavian Vein Thrombosis can be caused by a fracture of the collar bone or first rib, the presence of an extra rib, and a repetitive shoulder motion. The symptoms of Subclavian Vein Thrombosis include arm pain, swelling, and loss of circulation to the arm. Subclavian Vein Thrombosis is treated with anticoagulants, Thrombolysis, and subsequent surgery to remove the cause of the blood clot.
