Meningitis causes inflammation of the meninges which is the protective membranes surrounding the in the brain and spinal cord. The inflammation is caused by an infection in the fluid surrounding the brain or spinal. Plague Meningitis stems from the Bubonic plague which is a disease that mainly circulates around small rodents and their fleas. About 10% of people infected with Bubonic plague will develop Plague Meningitis. The symptoms of Plague Meningitis are stiff neck, fever, headache, and coma. The Plague Meningitis is treated with antibiotics.
