Perihepatitis is inflammation of the membrane covering of the liver as a result to having pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). This disease occurs almost solely in women and is caused by an infection of chlamydia or gonorrhea that leads to PID. Perihepatitis is treated with antibiotics to cure the infection.
