HIV Encephalopathy is when the brain is damaged from an infection with HIV. HIV, or the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, is a virus that compromises the immune system and causes other infections to invade the body. The symptoms of HIV Encephalopathy include decreased motor skills, memory problems, speech difficulties, and lack of concentration. Also, HIV Encephalopathy can have symptoms of other infections that are caused by a weakened immune system. HIV Encephalopathy is also referred to as AIDS dementia complex which pose the same symptoms, but are present during different HIV phases.
