Fulminant Hepatitis is the acute, rapidly progressive loss of liver function caused by viral infection or other reasons for inflammatory destruction. Fulminant hepatitis is often called acute liver failure. Fulminant hepatitis has many potential causes and Hepatitis A, B, and E can all lead to fulminant hepatitis. Since fulminant hepatitis progresses so rapidly, there is typically not much warning so the treatment options are limited to medications to reverse the poisoning or liver transplantation.
