Gilles De La Tourette Syndrome is a neurological disorder that causes 'tics,' or uncontrollable, repetitious motor or vocal movements. Tourette syndrome is most commonly diagnosed in male children between the ages of 7-9. The progression of Tourette syndrome varies, but most individuals with the disorder develop the most severe symptoms in the pre-teen years and improve in their early 20s. The cause of Tourette Syndrome is currently unknown, but research suggests that the disorder is inherited.
