Precancerous conditions are diseases and/or symptoms that may eventually develop into cancer. Having multiple precancerous conditions does not mean that cancer is inevitable, yet regular screenings and meetings with the appropriate physicians is important. Some precancerous conditions include breast calcifications, MGUS, polycythaemia vera, myelodysplastic syndromes, essential thrombocythaemia, and myelofibrosis. Cutaneous precancerous conditions are precancerous conditions that affect the skin. The most common cutaneous precancerous condition is actinic keratosis (AK), also known as solar keratoses. If left untreated, the AKs may lead to squamos cell carcinoma. Age and exposure are directly related to the onset of cutaneous precancerous conditions. Treatment of these conditions includes biopsy and removal of the infected individual.
