Congenital Anomalies of the Digestive System can occur as several different types of problems in different areas. Some Congenital Anomalies include Pancreas divisum, Esophageal atresia, and Hirschsprung's disease. Pancreas divisum is when the two distinct dorsal and ventral ducts of the pancreas do not form into one pancreatic duct. Esophageal atresia is when the esophagus doesn’t connect correctly to the stomach. This can be treated with surgery to reconnect the passageways. Hirschsprung's disease is when parts of the large intestine do not have nerves to function and can be treated with surgery. Congenital Anomalies of the Digestive System can form in many parts different parts of the digestive system including the liver, intestine, and stomach.
