Brainerd Diarrhea: Disease Bioinformatics

Brainerd diarrhea is a very rare disease that is characterized by a sudden onset of watery diarrhea, which lasts for 4 weeks or longer, with many cases lasting months or even years. While there is no distinct cause, Brainerd diarrhea carries characteristics of a disease caused by an infectious agent, and also is associated with unpasteurized milk and untreated water. There are currently no curative treatments for Brainerd diarrhea, but the disease does seem to cure itself after an extended period of time. There have been 10 outbreaks of this disease since 1983, with nine occurring in the United States.
