Bloom Syndrome is most commonly seen in people of Central and Eastern European Jewish background, which occurs in about 1 in 50,000 people however Bloom Syndrome can affect men or women and is diagnosed using blood samples. This disorder is not life-threatening itself however the elevated rate of mutation in Bloom Syndrome results in a high risk of cancer in affected individuals.
