Neurotransmission
Electrical impulses transmitted through the neuronal network are important for the propagation of signals that coordinate muscle control, memory storage, and mood. These electrical changes in the cell require a constant maintenance of cellular charge and pH. Polarization of the cells allows the signal to be transferred along the neuronal pathway. The electrical changes in the neuron cause a release of neurotransmitters (NTs) which triggers the electrical change in the next neuron upon binding these NTs.
