Astrocyte Markers

Astrocytes are the most ubiquitous and diverse of the glial cells, which are non-neuronal cells found in the brain and spinal cord. They function in guiding the construction of the nervous system, supporting endothelial cells that form the blood-brain barrier, controlling the chemical and ionic environment of neurons and repairing the brain and spinal cord after trauma. Astrocytes also provide nourishment to neurons by receiving glucose from capillaries, breaking it down into lactate and then releasing lactate into the extracellular fluid surrounding neurons. During this metabolic process, astrocytes store a small amount of glycogen as a reserve for periods of high neuronal energy use.   All Astrocyte Marker Antibodies, Lysates, Proteins, and RNAi
