Cancer
Cancer is a broad group of diseases in which abnormal cells exhibit out-of-control growth. Cells become cancerous because of damage to DNA, regardless of whether such damage is genetically inherited or caused by environmental factors. Although most cancers form a tumor, some do not. Metastasis often occurs, in which cancer cells are disseminated throughout the body via lymph vessels or the bloodstream. Cancers are always named by their origin, even if metastasis has occurred. The study of genetic abnormalities found in cancer is a hot topic today. Two classes of cancer genes exist: oncogenes are cancer-promoting genes that are activated in cancer cells, whereas tumor suppressor genes are inactivated in cancer cells. As the second leading cause of death in the United States, the study of cancer is on the forefront of science.

Monoclonal antibody research products
At Novus Biologicals, we have a vast catalog of competitively priced antibodies for scientific research. Our IL-6 antibodies, Osteopontin antibodies, and p21 antibodies are widely used for applications such as immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence.
Antibody targets such as TNF alpha, MMP2, BRCA, Erb B-2, NOD2, Profilin and Ki67 are powerful tools in cancer research. We aim to be at the forefront of science, providing the latest monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies to researchers.
IL-6 antibody products
IL-6 antibodies, often known as IL-6, is a pluripotent cytokine which plays a role in the pathophysiology of severe infection and regulates the immune response, acute phase reaction and haematopoiesis. Our IL-6 monoclonal antibody is used for the study of advanced cancers. Clinically, the IL-6 antibody locates and binds to cancer cells, and is used to block inflammation and tumor growth.
Various Il-6 antibody preparations have been used in ELISA assays to detect and analyze human IL-6 and its interaction with other systems.
Ki67 antibody products
The monoclonal Ki67 antibody identifies the Ki67 antigen. Ki67 is routinely used as a marker for cellular proliferation, e.g. in tumor cells. It is detected by using the Ki67 antibody.
Ki67 is extensively found in active cells, but is absent from resting ones. Ki67 antibody preparations are used in immunohistochemistry to track the cell growing fraction of neoplastic tissues via ki67 levels.
MMP2 antibody products
The MMP2 gene is involved in the breakdown of the extracellular matrix. The MMP2 antibody detects MMP2 in both its proenzyme and active (cleaved) state. The active form of MMP2 is not found in benign tumors; therefore, detection of the enzyme is a possible early indicator of tumor activity.
The MMP2 antibody is useful in Western blot assays, however, it is mainly used with recombinant protein. The MMP2 antibody also works well on frozen and paraffin-embedded tissues.
Osteopontin antibody products
Osteopontin is an organic component of bone, and is involved in many physiological processes. Osteopontin antibodies are used in cancer research because it is over-expressed in a number of important cancers.
Osteopontin antibodies are used as markers to track the development of cancer cells in vitro, and have also been used in kidney, asthma and MS research. Both full-length and fragmented Osteopontin are recognized by the Osteopontin antibody.
p21 antibody products
p21 antibodies are involved in mammalian cell cycle progression. Overproduction of p21 inhibits mammalian cell growth and can be effected by a wide range of stimuli.
p21 antibodies are used for p21 detection in a variety of applications, including: Western blot, immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence.
TNF-alpha antibody products
Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha, commonly referred to as TNF-alpha, is closely involved with acute inflammatory response. TNF production has been implicated in a variety of diseases, including cancer; therefore, it is commonly used in this research.
By promoting the inflammatory response, TNF causes many of the medical problems associated with autoimmune diseases. TNF-alpha antibodies have been used in research for rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, psoriasis and advanced sepsis.
At Novus Biologicals, we have a substantial range of competitively priced antibodies for scientific research. We employ the tightest quality controls to ensure the best results for every application.
