ABC Transporters
ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters are transmembrane proteins. ABC transporters harness energy from ATP hydrolysis to transport various substrates, including metabolic products, lipids and sterols, and drugs across both extracellular and intracellular membranes. Their functions are implicated in tumor resistance, drug resistance, many inherited human diseases, and cystic fibrosis.
