Cytochrome C Oxidase 4, isoform 1 (COX4I1 or COXIV1) is a member of the cytochrome c oxidase IV family. COX4I1 is the terminal enzyme complex of the mitochondrial electron transport chain. Located in the inner mitochondrial membrane, COXIV1 collects electrons that are transferred from reduced Cytochrome C and donates them to molecular oxygen, which is then reduced to water.
