Beta actin (ACTB) is one of six human actin isoforms, and one of only two nonmuscle cytoskeletal forms. Actins are highly conserved proteins that are required for cell motility, structure, and integrity. Because beta actin is ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells, beta actin is frequently used as a loading control for assays involving protein detection, such as Western blotting and ELISA. Beta actin antibodies also provide a specific and useful tool in studying the intracellular distribution of beta actin and the static and dynamic aspects of the cytoskeleton.

Beta Actin and GAPDH: The Importance of Loading Controls

Western blotting is an essential technique used in life science research. To effectively interpret Western blot results, it is imperative that a researcher use loading controls. The most popular targets include Beta Actin and GAPDH. ...

The Beta-actin Antibody as a Loading Control

One of six actin isoforms so far identified, beta actin is a highly conserved cytoskeletal protein involved in cell structure, motility, and cohesion. We at Novus Biologicals have many different beta-actin products in our catalog, used in areas such ...

Fluorescent Dyes And Conjugated Antibodies

Antibody conjugation involves tagging on a protein, compound or dye, in order to track its interaction with specific antigens. It is a routine procedure in immunoassays. We at Novus Biologicals have a vast number of products in our conjugated antibody catalog, ...
