Stem Cell Technique: Separating Stem Cells by Flow Cytometry
A very powerful technique in the study of stem cell biology is flow cytometric analysis/cell sorting. Using flow cytometry, researchers are able to sort on a number of different markers simultaneously to identify/enrich certain cell populations efficiently and accurately. A few experimental parameters should be considered to maintain the data consistency of flow cytometric analysis. Recently, an in-depth discussion of these parameters and suggestions is published in Cell Stem Cell. 2009 Dec 4;5(6):579-83.
