Thyroglobulin Antibody (14/14) Summary
| Immunogen |
The antibody reacts in immunoblot with 27S, 19S and 12S thyroglobulin and lacks reactivity with cyogen bromide cleavage products of thyroglobulin. |
| Specificity |
The antibody reacts in immunoblot with 27S, 19S and 12S thyroglobulin and lacks reactivity with cyogen bromide cleavage products of thyroglobulin. It cross reacts with thyroglobulin from several species including rat, goat, chicken and mouse. It does not cross react with different human tissues tested, including kidney, ovary, endometrium, testis, salivary gland, colon, appendix, antrum, adrenal, liver, pancreas, spleen, bronchus epithelium, duodenum, parathyroid and mammary gland tissue. |

| Application Notes |
This monoclonal antibody stains human thyroglobulin within normal thyroid and thyroid cancer tissues. Formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues give satisfactory results. It is better not to use frozen tissue since thyroglobulin is a soluble protein aFor use in staining of tissue sections it has to be diluted 1:5, preferably in phosphate buffered saline. See for useful procedures instructions H (as for formalin fixed tissues). |
Reactivity Notes
human, mouse, rat. Please note that this antibody is reactive to Mouse and derived from the same host, Mouse. Additional Mouse on Mouse blocking steps may be required for IHC and ICC experiments. Please contact Technical Support for more information.

Background
Thyroglobulin is the glycoprotein precursor of the iodinated thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Thyroglobulin is obtained from the thyroid gland and exhibits the general properties of the globulins. The human thyroglobulin (hTG) is a high molecular weight glycoprotein (605 kDa) found in the thyroid follicular cells. It plays a central role in the uptake, incorporation, and regulated biosynthesis of thyroid hormones, T4 and T3. Thyroid disorders are, in large part, due to autoimmune origin, and anti thyroglobulin autoantibodies were the first factor to be discovered. Anti hTG is found in all thyroid autoimmune diseases (Hashimoto's thyroiditis, Graves' diseases), with the highest level observed in Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Anti hTG is also characteristic of thyroid cancer, and its determination can be used for the follow up of cancer patients.

-
I am interested in your primary antibodies against thyroglobulin (specifically, NB120-8555 and NBP1-42112). As these antibodies have not been tested in zebrafish, I do not know if they will show reactivity with the zebrafish protein. Would it be possible for me to obtain a small aliquot of these antibodies to test for reactivity, before purchasing the entire product? If either of them works, I am happy to provide you with photos documenting reactivity with Danio rerio.
- Unfortunately, at this time we would not be able to provide free samples of your mentioned antibodies; however, if you would be interested in testing this novel species, please take a look at our Innovators Reward Program.
