| Application Notes |
This reagent has been tested in bioassays using the MCF-7 cell line. The ED50 measured in the dose-dependent induction of MCF-7 cell proliferation assay is typically 0.85 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of approximately 1 x10^6 Units/mg. Purity > 97%, as determined by SDS-PAGE |
| Theoretical MW |
7.5 kDa. Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors. |
Reactivity Notes
This protein was made to the human sequence.

Background
Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-2), also known as somatomedin A, is a member of the insulin-like growth factor family expressed in many cell types and is secreted into the blood. IGF-2 is a potent mitogen and plays an important role in embryonic development. IGF-2 also plays important roles in obesity and tumor pathogenesis. IGF-1 and IGF-2 share 70% sequence identity. IGF-2 is 100% identical among human, bovine and porcine and exhibits cross-species activity. Recombinant Human IGF-2 produced in E.coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 67 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 7.5 kDa.
