Note: Not all species have been tested for usefulness with this product. Only those species listed have been tested. We cannot make any guarantees about additional reactivities which may or may not occur.
A synthetic peptide mapping to a region of human CD36 between residues 300-400.
Localization:
Integral membrane
Species Reactivity:
This antibody reacts with human CD36. No other species have been tested. There is 100% homology of the immunogen used for this production and the human protein sequence. There is 95% with, rat, monkey, Golden hamster, and rabbit, 90% with mouse, and 75% with bovine.
Applications:
Uses:
This antibody is useful for Western blot analysis, where a band is seen ~75-80 kDa. May see a very faint band ~130 kDa with a flash exposure and several bands with exposure times longer than 3 seconds. The theoretical molecular weight of CD36 is ~53 kDa. The difference in theoretical MW and actual MW as seen in Western blot is most likely due to the heavy glycosylation and palmitoylation of this protein. No other applications have been tested. *Optimal working dilutions should be determined by the investigator.
This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Products are guaranteed for 6 months from date of receipt, except for peptides and proteins which are guaranteed for 3 months.
CD36 is a cell surface class B scavenger receptor. CD36 is preferentially found within lipid rafts, which facilitates its association with receptors, signalling and adapter molecules. CD36 binds to collagen, thrombospondin, anionic phospholipids and oxidized LDL. May function as a cell adhesion molecule. Directly mediates cyto adherence of Plasmodium falciparum parasitized erythrocytes. Binds long chain fatty acids and may function in the transport and/or as a regulator of fatty acid transport.
