Note: Not all species have been tested for usefulness with this product. Only those species listed have been tested. We cannot make any guarantees about additional reactivities which may or may not occur.
This antibody reacts with mouse and rat CD36 proteins. It is not reactive with human protein. Other species have not been tested.
Applications:
Uses:
By Western blot a band is seen at ~70-80 kDa. The theoretical molecular weight of CD36 is ~53 kDa. The difference in theoretical MW and actual MW, as seen in Western blot, is most likely due to the heavy glycosylation and palmitoylation of this protein. This clone has also been used to immunoprecipitate mouse CD36. This antibody is also useful for immunohistochemistry.
Dilutions:
immunohistochemistry 0.5-1.0 ug/ml,
immunoprecipitation ,
Western Blot 1:500,
Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin 1:100-1:250
Store at 4 °C short term. Aliquot and store at -20 °C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Limitations:
This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Products are guaranteed for 6 months from date of receipt, except for peptides and proteins which are guaranteed for 3 months.
CD36 is a cell surface class B scavenger receptor. CD36 is preferentially found within lipid rafts, which facilitates its association with receptors, signalling and adapter molecules. CD36 binds to collagen, thrombospondin, anionic phospholipids and oxidized LDL. May function as a cell adhesion molecule. Directly mediates cyto adherence of Plasmodium falciparum parasitized erythrocytes. Binds long chain fatty acids and may function in the transport and/or as a regulator of fatty acid transport.
This ab seems to work well when compared to the observed molecular weight(~70-80 kDa) found in product insert. Fairly high non-specific binding and a little background, but nice strong band @ observed molecular weight. Tissue processed using Strom et al protocol
